The
infamous Bar Nun is a part of the 14th and U
Street cluster of bars. Pitted against the
larger Republic Gardens and State of the
Union, this two- story converted row house
offers a cozy middle ground between those two
extremes.
In the early part of the evening, Motown is
playing for the handful of regulars. The mixed
crowd (21-41) is drinking Heineken and
Hennessy by candlelight and relaxing in the
arty urban decor. Most nights, though, the
two-DJ party helps people get their freeze on
by about 10:30 -- hip-hop on the tight dance
floor upstairs, house in the larger and louder
basement.
