Multiple Man is a real hard core hip hop artist making industry heads move.  He stop through and had an interview with rhythmplaza.com.  Check out what he has to say in an interview with Rhythmplaza.com

Rhythmplaza.com:  Where are you originally from?
Multiple Man
: I was born in Long Island, New York. I lived 7 years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. But I lived here in DC for 17 years, so basically I’m a DC nigga.

Rhythmplaza.com: When and why did you start using the name Multiple Man?
Multiple Man: I started using the name Multiple Man from being a fan of The X-Men. The name just totally described who I am as a person and also how I am on the mic.

Rhythmplaza.com:  When did you first get into the music game and started making music?
Multiple Man: I was 11 and a ½ years old when I started rhyming

Rhythmplaza.com:  What artist have you worked with in the area?
Multiple Man: I worked with so many artists out here it’s ridiculous. Off the top of my head….Culture Cypha, D en’ D Productions, 420, Bearwitnez, Napoleon Da Legend, Relentless Dre, and a whole buncha motherfuckas!

Rhythmplaza.com:  Do you get a lot of feedback for your music using the internet?
Multiple Man:  I get some feedback but I get more feedback from people on the streets that I give CDs to. When I give them a CD I just ask that they e-mail me their take on the CD. Most of the people do that for me.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What do you think about using the internet as a marketing tool?
Multiple Man:  I think the internet is a great low cost marketing tool. You can market to a world-wide population without leaving your desk. At the same time there should be some restrictions as to what is marketed and who is contacted because the internet is so wide-open that it can have a reverse effect and drive people away.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What producers do you have on the album, and has worked with in the past?
Multiple Man: No, most of my tracks are produced by my nigga Verse-All. But I’ve received tracks on my 2nd album from Funk Life, Pat-One, Chief, and Camillion to name some of em’. On my 1st album, Hitmaka and Madd Chuck produced my tracks.

Rhythmplaza.com:  Do you produce your own tracks?
Multiple Man: No, most of my tracks are produced by my nigga Verse-All. But I’ve received tracks on my 2nd album from Funk Life, Pat-One, Chief, and Camillion to name some of em’. On my 1st album, Hitmaka and Madd Chuck produced my tracks.

Rhythmplaza.com: What does rap music mean to you? Where is it headed?
Multiple Man:  Hip-hop means a lot to me. I grew up to this shit. It’s a real form of self-expression. It’s a platform in which you can express your individuality. Everything about you. Rap is headed to the fuckin’ trash can. It is headed to hell in a fuckin’ hand basket! A lotta these rappers nowadays are just not original, have no skills, and they are fakin’ for motherfuckas!

Rhythmplaza.com:  Are you working on any new projects?
Multiple Man:  Yes I am. My 2nd album, The Multiplexxx, is finished at the moment. I’m trying to get it out there by either this month, April, or May at the latest. Plus I am on a lotta compilations and albums done by fellow DC artists. And I’m in a DVD called “Live From the Block --- The District”

Rhythmplaza.com:  When is your solo album coming out?
Multiple Man Hopefully my album will be out by mid summer 2004. I already have the songs I want it is just the act of tightening everything up that will take some time.

Rhythmplaza.com: What are your goals in the business as a rapper/producer/and entertainer?
Multiple Man My goal as a rapper is to bring some originality to this game. Put DC on the map. Stay in the game, get paid, and get outta the game when I’m ready to get out. I would like to own my own company among other things as well.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What do you like to do when you are not rapping?
Multiple Man: I’m at school at Howard University to get my Pharm. D, so I don’t get to do much. My hobbies would be like….reading, writing, lifting weights, movies, listening to all kinds of music, and……..sex!

Rhythmplaza.com:  What is the most important aspect of the music industry you have learned?
Multiple Man:  That if you don’t own shit, they own you. Plus motherfuckas will put out some garbage if they think it’ll sell.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What advice would you give to some of the up and coming rap artists and producers in the DC, MD, and VA areas?
Multiple Man:  To all the artists here in DC and the Metro Washington Area…..be original. Do your own thing. Stop trying to copy all these other bamas because they will not pay us any attention. We will not get recognized at all. Be original and put some skills and some thought into your shit.

Rhythmplaza.com: How do you view the music industry in the Washington, DC area?

Multiple Man:   It’s fucked up! Hardly anybody’s original. You barely get support from your fellow Washingtonians out this motherfucka. Radio won’t play you or get behind you. Everybody’s talking about the same old shit! Niggas from outta town come over here and shit on us. What more do you need to know?

Rhythmplaza.com: How do you feel about the support for DC, MD, and VA hip hop artist?
Multiple Man:   We barely get any. To anybody out there who supported somebody from here….yall are soldiers! Yall are real motherfuckas! And we gonna need yall to make this thang work out here………

Rhythmplaza.com: Whom would you like to leave a shout out too?
Multiple Man:   Damn….I got love for so many people…I’ll just shout out my nigga Verse-All, my little brother Napoleon, my nigga Booch, Poppa Nard, Grymm, Hitmaka, my baby Rebecca Jones, and everybody out there who showed me love and supported me. Multiple Man loves all of yall!
