Rhythmplaza.com:  Where are you originally from?
Amotion
: Boston area

Rhythmplaza.com: When and why did you start using the name Amotion?
Amotion: I stopped using my government name when my life changed and I relocated to Maryland  and started DJing for a local company, building my own studio and performing.

Rhythmplaza.com:  When did you first get into the music game and started making music?
Amotion: Before I could write, I would sing for my mom and she'd write it down for me.  Then I started hooking up all video/audio equipment I could and making music and video as the equipment got better as I grew. I really started networking in the indusrtry in '99.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What is your take on how the music industry treat female artist?
Amotion: Females aren’t taken as seriously off the break.  A serious female has to earn her respect and legitimacy like any other artist, only with the odds stacked higher against her. It's definitely hard but that just means I grow quicker and more thorough so I can look back laughing later.

Rhythmplaza.com:  Do you feel there should be more women creating their own record labels?
Amotion: If they serious about it, cause don't make the rest of us look bad trying to jump on if you’re not ready. But if you're ready, it’s a proven fact females can multi-task better than males so we can move faster then them too!

Rhythmplaza.com:  What artist and producers have you worked with?
Amotion: Hozy from Big H productions (he does production for a lot of Bad boy artists), Texx from All Hiz Productions, (Moet/Dreamworks) KC from Verzire Entertainment,  T-Gunner of Freeloadas and Coalition Records (my label), Neckbrace Productions/Touch One Records, Hollywood of M.O.E. Records, Tyronne of Seeker Entertainment, Pre with Roundtable Franchize), Rock Bottom Records, me and Judah have been in talks, man, there are a lot. Sorry to anyone I forgot I'll make it up later!   And look out for the main artists down with Deep Flow (M.Dahmer, Scoot, Kojo, and The Freeloadas) bout to rise up and make everybody else step their game up!

Rhythmplaza.com:  Tell us about the artist that are with Deep Flow Studios.
Amotion: We have so much talent and creativity it’s ridiculous!  I can't begin to explain the range of subject matter, thoughts and emotions we got up in here. I have faith in every artist I work close with to not just be able to hold a solo album up by themselves but I feel like our compilations and mix tapes kill it just as hard because there's so much diversity but familiarly if you get me on that. Look out for M.Dahmer, Scoot, Kojo, The Freeloadas and myself bout to rise up and make everybody else step their game up!

Rhythmplaza.com:  What producers’ do you have on the album?
Amotion: See above on producers. I executively produce my solo projects and Deep Flow projects and most of the artists who come through and record with us.

Rhythmplaza.com: How difficult is it to be a female rapper, producer, engineer and starting your own label, managing and promoting yourself and other artists?
Amotion: I don't know it any other way cause I've been on some type of hustle my whole life. I know I'm always busy and stressed too often but if shit was to die down I wouldn't be able to sit. I'd have to jump on something more.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What does rap music mean to you? Where is it headed?
Amotion: Rap is a productive way to get what you need to off your chest and be able to dance, drive,  chill, and just vibe to it in any situation.

Rhythmplaza.com:  Are you working on any new projects?
Amotion: We have a double disk mix tape Due out in December called ‘Deep Flow 2004 Rap-Up.’  The 2003 edition rocked the streets last December and narrowing down 20 some artists hottest tracks this time was even more difficult I had to make this one double disked.  The Freeloadas new album is set to go to press in December as well so expect that out in Early 2005. For more info, samples, pictures and videos check us out at www.DeepFlowStudios.com.

Rhythmplaza.com:  What advice would you give other female artist already in the music industry and those trying to make it into the industry?
Amotion: First off, don't mix business with pleasure.  There‘s a million hotties out there who aren't in the music industry, leave the ones you work with alone unless you've known them a long time and there’s a huge amount of trust and respect there, even then its still a gamble.  Second, keep your personal life personal. If you're an artist, let it out in your music. But if your personal life becomes a mess, its harder for people to see you as a legitimate business person if they think your heads not straight. That's YOUR business and that's what gives you good material. Keep it that way. If they hear crazy things in your music and see you walking around, running business drama free, they make think you lie in your music so its a catch 22 but you can be that much more intriguing if they hear things and think 'Is this really what her life is like? She looks so calm and business like every time I see her? How does she pull it off?' It just might get them more interested in you as a business person and artist. And last but certainly not least, don't think because you put people on, help them out, or even they roll with you that they'll have your back as well in the streets or in business. You could even get them a good deal and watch them turn their back on you leaving you with time & money wasted. Use contracts, get a good lawyer and let them guide your success, its too hard on your own.

Rhythmplaza.com:  Who would you like to give a shout out to?
Amotion: First off my parents.  People who (like most others) didn't believe in me or even understand what I was doing at first. But I carried on and proved to them I was doing something real and influential and could make a living off it. Now they are my biggest supporters and have my back in a way nobody else ever could.  I am unbelievably grateful to have them closer in my life now. Next are all the people who gave me opportunities, or did free work for me, or just saw the possibilities in me and helped me out having receiving nothing but a 'thank you' thus far in the game. People from DC like Eric Cambell, Why Entertainment, Urscene FM, On Point Entertainment, KZ's House of Talent, Rap Divas, Nile Numan, Moett, Rane at 95.5, Texx at All Hiz Productions /in Baltimore Auk at 88.9, Timmy Grins and Arcane, Kc, Omni, Big H Productions, and The City paper. In Virginia the very talented Harlem X and Hungry MC's magazine, and the Wonder Twinz Connex List in NYC.  To all the mom and pop stores who sell our cds and DVD's, all the Internet stations who play our music, my web designers Paul Iwugo, Xception Media, and of course Rythmplaza.com for giving me this opportunity to be featured on such a hot site with such other talented people.  If you think you're name should have been included, holla at me. It probably means I just haven't heard from you in a minute so you're not on the tip of my tongue but you are appreciated.
